Bandography

Bandography KanaWormz is a powerhouse band on a quest to create a fusion of truth and musical talent of legendary proportion. Joe Spry founded KanaWormz after an illustrious career pioneering the “new wave” genre with his band, Felony. After Felony achieved international fame, Joe left Los Angeles to reinvent himself and begin a journey which ultimately morphed into KanaWormz. After composing the most cutting edge “Jesus” music imaginable, Joe was ready to recruit partners able to share in his vision. Not only does he compose and co-produce the music, Joe contributes lead guitar and vocals. The person responsible for co-producing the signature KanaWormz sound is John Avila. John comes into KanaWormz with a very distinguished musical pedigree. After launching his career as El Chicano’s bass player, he went on to make a name for himself by joining Oingo Boingo. Following his success in these bands, John began his own production company and studio, Brando’s Paradise, working with countless musicians. Also, he continues touring with great artists such as Lucas Nelson and performing at Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and Steven Tyler. Since Joe and John’s paths crossed during their Felony and Oingo Boingo days, their collaboration together on KanaWormz could only have been destiny. Not only does John play bass and produce, he sings lead and supporting vocals. Together, they have laid the foundation upon which the band’s concept was built. Louis Ruiz, a long-time friend of Joe and original member of “Felony”, is the person responsible for putting the production team of Joe and John together. He can be heard providing percussion and background vocals on “KanaWormz, Vol. One”. Louis is an accomplished musician who plays everything from guitar to bass to keyboards to percussion. When not touring with “The John Corbett Band”, Louis is able to work on KanaWormz projects. Mike Leasure (aka “Drummer for God”), is the freight train driving KanaWormz and is a seasoned veteran with a huge drum sound. Growing up in Southern California allowed him to play the club circuit while perfecting his craft. Playing gigs everywhere from the L.A. club scene to cruise ships, Mike partnered with the likes of Albert Collins and Buddy Miles. Shortly afterwards, he began touring with Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer. Since then, he has stopped touring only long enough to work with Joe and John on KanaWormz. The gorgeous keyboard work comes to KanaWormz courtesy of Fred Mandel, as does the stylistic guitar work. This Canadian born pianist and guitarist contributions have lent the band a bombastically elegant sound easily recognizable as Fred'’s. He started his career as part of Alice Cooper'’s Nightmare Band. From there, his talent took him to collaborate with artists that include Pink Floyd, Queen, Super Tramp, and Elton John. Even though his musical cup is brimming full, he continues to make major contributions to KanaWormz projects and is an irreplaceable member of the band KanaWormz is on a worldwide mission and will continue to create new and innovative ways to integrate music and the message of the cross while delivering their powerful sound.

Israel: Love Her or Hate Her? by VoR

Israel is the on everyone'’s lips these days. She is the focus of television’s talking heads, international politicians, anti-Semitics, and many evangelists. Why? What does this tiny country have to do with the world anyway? This article will examine historical facts pertaining to the middle-east, current events, how Israel impacts the world, and why it is important to stand with Israel.What few people realize is Jewish people have been living in the area now known as Israel, continuously (Bernis, 2011). This means there has not been a time when Jews were not in their own land of Israel and is in direct contradiction to the current spin that the Jews are an “occupying force” in the region. The Ottoman Empire controlled this area collectively known as Palestine for hundreds of years. Both Jews and Arabs lived side-by-side up to the collapse of the Empire at the beginning of the 1900’s. It is important to notice that the two “native” peoples living in the region were Jews and Arabs. One of the “big lies” of the 20th century began when these native Arabs came to be called Palestinians. Furthermore, this “big lie” is still being perpetrated today. Don’'t let yourself be caught up in these fallacies. Take the time and research the facts for yourself. During the Russian Pogroms in the early 1900’s, many Russian Jews fled to the middle-east for safety. In fact, this is what prompted part of my family to leave Russia. The Jews needed a homeland. Thus, the modern Zionist movement reached a zenith in 1917 with the Balfour Declaration. "“The Balfour Declaration led to the 1922 League of Nations mandate for the administration of the former Ottoman territory of Palestine being given to the United Kingdom. Phrases from the 1917 declaration regarding the establishment of a homeland for the Jews while not prejudicing the rights of other people resident in Palestine-that is, of the Arabs-were incorporated into the 1922 mandate”" (New World Encyclopedia, 2011). Did you pick up on the fact that as far back as 1917 it was known that Arabs were the other occupants in that region, not Palestinians? The Palestenians are Arabs. Finally, Israel was formally declared an independent state in 1948. Since its inception, Israel may be the most regularly attacked nation on earth.Let’'s fast forward to September 2011. The United Nations Security Council is deliberating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Their solution is to form two states, Israel and Palestine. The problem is, this solution will require only Israel to forfeit land for the “Palestinians”, not any of the other surrounding Arab countries. Isn’'t that a rather strange solution? Why wouldn’'t Arabs be willing to provide land for their own people? Could it be possible the intent is not for co-existence with but for the eradication of the Jewish State and people? Additionally, Jerusalem is proposed to be the capital city of this newly formed Palestinian state. It is important to remember that during the Six-Day War of 1967, Israel secured Jerusalem under their control. Don't forget, this particular war was initiated by Syria. Israel was the underdog in this war and was not expected to survive, let alone prosper as a result of it. "“The Arab world was shocked and utterly humiliated by the outcome of this war, which lasted only six days: 18,000 Arab casualties (11,000 Egyptian, 6,000 Jordanian, and 1,000 Syrian), 5,600 Egyptians taken prisoner, 400 combat planes destroyed, and 500 tanks destroyed or captured (about 70 percent of the three armies heavy armament)”" (Price, 2003). Although Israel controls Jerusalem, she promotes co-existence with Muslims still living in the area and accommodates those traveling to worship at the Dome of the Rock. Is this policy of co-existence practiced and endorsed by Muslims towards Jews? You must ask yourself this question as you examine the facts.Why is it important to stand with Israel? This goes back to the Abramic Covenant. “"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great: and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed"” (Genesis 12: 2-3, KJV). God is serious about His covenant with Israel; a covenant that impacts everyone in the world. You need to first consider if you believe in God and is He a liar? If there is no God then there is nothing to worry about. What happens to Israel is not important. I assure you however, God is true and he is not a liar. “"In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began…”..." (Titus 1:2, KJV). So, this covenant becomes more than fictional words on paper. It is a binding contract between God and us. There are earth shaking consequences for disregarding it. I urge you to read about the Six-Day War to understand how real God'’s promises are. In fact, studying the history of Israel will enlighten you and shed the light on one of God’'s modern day miracles. Israel and her people are this modern day miracle. In closing, do you want blessings from God or would you prefer curses? Think carefully before you decide. God’'s covenant (or contract) is very real. I ask the question again, where do you stand with Israel? Do you love her or hate her? Where do you stand with God the Father and King Jesus?
